  • We are sorry, but do to the overwhelming submissions, we are only excepting submittals for the
    current open contest categories!  Check back to see when your contest is open!

  • Poets under the age of 18, must have their Parent/Guardian sign our permission slip and mail it back to us
  10 days after submission!  By not sending in your permission slip, it is our obligation to disqualify you from receiving your trophy and gifts.  


  • Every participant must follow our Contest Schedule and Rules!  No Exceptions!  

  • Individuals and School Entries must be entered by e-mail, mail or by posting it at our website!  


  • Teachers!   -Our program is designed to help you as you teach your students poetry!
  • Your students will not only learn, but will  be exited about the possibility of winning at the same time!
  • Please help your students enter our contest!

  • Do NOT call us to find out if you are a winner!  
    If you have entered our contest, we will be notifying you by phone and e-mail.  We will be asking you or parents
    to e-mail us your address,so we may send you your prize!  We will also ask you to attach a photo of yourself so
    we may include it in our newspaper article.
    *  If you are under the age of 16, you must have your parents contact us with all questions.

  • Prizes will include: Trophy and Certificates, gifts (which may vary) from Sponsors!   (Gift cards, school supplies and more....)
  • Your name, poem and picture will be printed in several local newspapers, also on our website under our winners page.

How do we select our winners?


  • We have 5 Volunteer Judges


  • We look for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and if the poem has a meaning,  beginning, middle, and an end!

  • 40% Grammar and Punctuation
  • 40% Creativity and Originality
  • 20% Artistic Quality


  • Ages 4-10, may have help with computer entries from parents and teachers!  
    However, they may not have help with rhyming, word placement or word replacement!

  • Students with learning disabilities may have their work dictated and typed by their teachers or parents!  
Talent Contest Auditioning Rules

1.        Be on time! Only 2 hours for auditioning.  First 100 acts will have the chance to audition.

2.        Before auditioning you must purchase your tickets at the ticket window!

3.        Come in and register at the Grand Theater in Tracy, look for our table inside.

4.        Minors must have a parent sign our permission slip and attend with them at all times.

5.        Bring your own CD.  (Typed description…name & track number) NO FOUL LANGUAGE
         
  or any material that is not appropriate  for young ears!

6.        Tickets are non-refundable!  If you are not selected this year there will be another show coming soon, keep your eye on our website.

7.        Please stay and hang out with us, do watch the show.
