  • We are sorry, but do to the overwhelming submissions, we are only excepting 2 submissions per person for the
    current open contest categories!  Check back to see when your contest is open!  
  • Variety of Poetry Styles

  • Poets under the age of 18, must have their Parent/Guardian sign our permission slip and mail it back to us
    10 days after submission!  By not sending in your permission slip, it is our obligation to disqualify you from receiving your trophy and gifts.  


  • Every participant must follow our Contest Schedule and Rules!  No Exceptions!
  • Everyone who enters our contest is consenting to post their work on our website by clicking on the summit button! If you
    wish not to have your poem posted you must send us an e-mail!

  • Our Policy:  Each authors hold the copyrights to their work. We are not responsible for any copyright infringement. This
    site and its contents are owned and protected by TnJPoetry, Inc.  Anyone who violates our policy will be prosecuted
    accordingly under the United States Copyright Protection Laws.

  • Individuals must submit their work online or by mail! (please include a cover letter)!


  • Class Submissions -  must be e-mailed to us as a world document file or mailed to the above address along with a
    cover letter and a stamped self addressed yellow envelope!

  • Teachers - Our program is designed to help you as you teach your students the art of poetry!  Your students will not only
    learn, but will  be exited about the possibility of winning! Please help your students enter our contest!  

  • Do NOT call us to find out if you are a winner!  
    If you have entered our contest, we will be notifying you by phone and e-mail.  We will be asking you or parents
    to e-mail us your address,so we may send you your prize!  We will also ask you to attach a photo of yourself so
    we may include it in our newspaper article.

  • If you are under the age of 16, you must have your parents contact us with all questions.

  • Prizes would include: Trophy and Certificates, gifts (which may vary) from Sponsors! (school supplies and more....)
  • 2009 Prizes:  Due to the economy we have not received donations for the year!  Because of it, we are unable to
    provide you with a trophies and gifts.  If you wish to receive a trophy and gifts we will be glad to provide them to
    you for a $40.00 donation.  If you wish to receive just a certificate, its only a $5.00 donation.  Very sorry for the
    inconvenience, however we hope you understand that our pockets are now empty.  
  • But the good news is; your name, poem and picture will be printed in our local newspapers, also on our website under
    our winners page.

How do we select our winners?
  • 2009 Volunteer Judges:  Eva Bradley, Sue Langdon, Samina Masood, Elvira Sanchez, Sandra Yeri'Obidake
  • We look for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and if the poem has a meaning,  beginning, middle, and an end!

  • 40% Grammar and Punctuation
  • 40% Creativity and Originality
  • 20% Artistic Quality

  • Ages 5-10, may have help with computer entries from parents and teachers!  
    However, they may not have help with rhyming, spelling, word placement or word replacement!

  • Students with learning disabilities may have their work dictated and typed by their teachers or parents!
